Hello! My name is Katie Avila.

I was born and raised in California. I graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley in 2014. I am currently a 3rd year physical therapy student at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and will finally be graduating in September 2018!

After graduation, I am planning on moving back to the west coast and starting traveling physical therapy. Make sure to check back if you’re interested in reading about my future adventures!

Why Did I Start Blogging?

I intially created this blog as a creative hobby and a cool way for me to look back my adventures when I am finished with school. I love writing, blogging, and web design, and am hoping to incorporate these hobbies with my future career as a DPT.

Thanks to readers like you, my blog has slowly gained more and more followers! I’ve been honored to help many pre-PT and PT students in the US and internationally, which pushes me to continue writing.

What are my favorite things to do when I'm not studying?

I love everything to do with arts and crafts, specifically painting, drawing, and photography. I take some of the photographs on this blog with my Nikon D3000, and the rest with my cell phone camera.

My favorite types of exercise include rock climbing, running, hiking, and Dance Dance Revolution. Yep, DDR is a form of exercise, and it’s so much fun!

My Mission & Vision

Mission: To inspire and guide pre-PT and PT students along their unique “Road to PT” by sharing my story.

Vision: My vision was 13/13 the last time I was checked out. In all seriousness, here is what I wrote during my last semester of PT school:

  • To improve the lives of as many living beings as possible and inspire others to do the same.
  • To travel the world and expand my understanding of all cultures by listening to other people and cultivating relationships.
  • To harness my drive to consistently learn, question everything, and challenge myself.

Are you dying to know more about me, or do you just want to say hello?
