About

Hello! My name is Katie Avila.

I was born and raised in California, and moved cross country to Maryland for physical therapy school. I graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley in 2014, and recently graduated with my Doctor in Physical Therapy from University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2018.

Since graduation, I have been actively pursuing a job in traveling physical therapy. Make sure to check back if you’re interested in reading about my future adventures!

Why Did I Start Blogging?

I initially created this blog as a creative hobby and a cool way for me to look back my adventures when I am finished with school. I love writing, blogging, and web design, and am hoping to incorporate these hobbies with my future career as a DPT.

Thanks to readers like you, my blog has slowly gained more and more followers! I’ve been honored to help many pre-PT and PT students in the US and internationally, which pushes me to continue writing.

What are my favorite hobbies?

I love everything to do with arts and crafts, specifically painting, drawing, and photography. I take some of the photographs on this blog with my Nikon D3000, and the rest with my cell phone camera.

My favorite types of exercise include rock climbing, running, hiking, and Dance Dance Revolution. Yep, DDR is a form of exercise, and it’s so much fun!

Hi! I just stumbled onto your blog after random PT related google searches, and I just wanted to say thank you for providing all of the free excel spreadsheet templates under your resources tab. In fact, thank you for ALL of the resources you provided!!
They are tremendously helpful and well organized, and aesthetically pleasing as well!
I will be bookmarking your blog to visit from time to time. Thanks again!

Thanks for leaving a comment! πŸ™‚ I’m so glad you found them useful.

Please let me know if you have ideas for other things to include. I’m always coming up with resources, especially as a newer PT, but I haven’t been great about uploading new ones.

Hey there! I think my blog could definitely help someone insterested in PTA school. Some things will not apply exactly because I went to a different program. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’ll do my best to help out!

Greetings! I am currently a pre-PT student and am just about to enter the thick of things in preparation for applications (for 2020). The detail on you posts has been wonderful and reassuring – I couldn’t find it anywhere else and I know there is much more valuable information for me to discover throughout the website. I am excited to reference it as I pursue my own PT journey. Thank you!
